Using the information we gain in our discussion, we complete our Financial Picture and Client Scorecard allowing for an easy to understand, and easy to follow means of addressing attainment of key client goals.

Next, we continually work through and update this worksheet so that our planners are able to measure our client’s progress at any point in time and easily convey their current position. Updating of this scorecard occurs through regular review meetings and consistent contact by phone and email that lasts throughout the client relationship. Our regular reviews are a means to update our clients on where they currently stand and make sure they are on the correct path to fulfilling their financial goals. This is a simple way to connect with our clients and verify their goals haven’t changed, to update goals, and to make sure these goals are attained over time.  This system helps us make sure clients remain focused on what is important to them and avoid distractions. Full implementation may take years as specific topics become more important to the client.  Of course the sample scorecard above is often customized to include other goals such as selling a business or college education.

As fee-only fiduciaries who do not accept payment from outside investment providers or commissions of any sort, our clients know that any recommendations we make are in their best interests.
